This development is part of Usdaw’s broader strategy to revitalise its brand and improve its reputation amidst changing work practices and declining membership, ensuring the union remains a strong advocate for workers’ rights.

The launch of the Usdaw website coincides with the union’s efforts to modernize its operations, including an enhanced focus on the role of union reps who are critical to grassroots member engagement. The new website addresses one of the major challenges facing the union today: effectively supporting these reps while also enhancing member and non-member engagement through an updated, user-friendly online platform.

A key feature of the project was the creation of a streamlined Reps Hub, designed to provide union reps with better tools and resources for member recruitment and issue resolution. This enhancement was in response to the need for a more efficient way to manage content, which included migrating nearly 4,000 pages of outdated material to a new, mobile-first platform that caters to a 75% mobile audience.

Quba’s Managing Director, Matthew Williams commented: "Our team worked meticulously to deliver a website that not only reflects the union’s mission but also enhances the experience for all users. This new platform is a key component of Usdaw’s strategy to grow membership and continue advocating effectively for workers’ rights."

The launch of the new web platform supported a new brand launch. This was designed to modernise the image of the union and position it as a progressive organisation, relevant in these challenging times. The new website features advanced search capabilities, integrated live search, and tools like Recite Me for enhanced accessibility.

The relaunch of Usdaw’s website is expected to set a new standard for trade union digital services, supporting the union’s commitment to innovation, member engagement, and excellence in service delivery.
