Here’s a bit of guidance on what range of investment you’re looking at if you’re considering any of the four main CMS platforms Quba works with.

Kentico

Base Kentico installation with limited integration: £35,000 to £60,000 Advanced Kentico installation with content personalisation: £70,000 to £100,000 Kentico is one of the best all-rounder CMS platforms available right now. Their price range is wide from their most basic offer to their most elaborate. But that reflects the fact that they offer a huge range of features, from basic content management to large-scale enterprise project integrations for multinationals. And with a good reputation for scalability, Kentico can keep pace if you swing from one end of the scale to the other over the course of your business lifecycle. For an interesting example of how Kentico handles complex third party integrations, check out our London Luton Airport case study.

Umbraco

Umbraco installation from basic integrations to content personalisation: £20,000 to £60,000 Umbraco has come a long way in recent years, and it’s a great choice for clients who are looking for a quick and relatively inexpensive turnaround. For bigger companies, it’s a great solution for an ancillary product website or portal that works alongside a bigger main website. Our entertainment portal project with Toys R Us is a great example of this. While it’s definitely not as deeply featured as the licensed platforms (Umbraco is open-source licensed), generally we turn to it for clients who specifically don’t want or need advanced features, which cost more.

Sitecore

Base Sitecore installation with limited integration: £100,000 to £130,000 Advanced Sitecore installation with content personalisation: £140,000 to £250,000 Sitecore’s analytics facilities put them on a different tier from the other platforms that Quba develops. With a cutting-edge data correlation game that drives client personalisation and easy content automation, they have been Leaders on the Gartner Magic Quadrant for an astonishing nine years. With a brand reputation like that and a product with extremely powerful features, it’s unsurprising that they come with a big entry fee. Whether your organisation needs all those features… well, that’s for you to decide.

Sitefinity

Sitefinity installation from basic integrations to content personalisation: £50,000 to £100,000 Sitefinity’s features cover a similar range of capabilities as Kentico. As a result they service similarly sized organisations, from SMEs to big corporate players. They have some great tools in particular for sales data visualisation. But although they have a reputation for straightforward template design and ease-of-use for content creators and admins, approaching Sitefinity as a DIY bargain is a mistake. It takes expertise and finesse to mould your workflow to Sitefinity’s worldview.

Bespoke

Bespoke installation from basic integrations to content personalisation: up to £250,000 With such a variety of CMS platforms out there, with diverse strengths and attentions, it’s rare that there’s a project in need of an entirely bespoke system. In the event, the costs are often prohibitive for the project scale. Quba always recommends first rethinking the project workflow such that an established CMS platform out of the box can act as a foundational starting point for customisation. If it’s simply not possible, and your project really truly is one-of-a-kind, Quba can build what you need.
